Inviting and Initiating New Women
The transmission of these teachings and practices vibrates body-to-body, woman-to-woman. By a living, breathing, direct experience the sweet fire of the divine feminine is ignited within us. There is nothing to understand, no concepts to grasp and no future goal to strive towards. Only this sweet moment of wild, chaotic, vibrating and deeply tender feminine love.
If you are alone in starting a Temple Group it is best to start small and let it grow organically. We, Helena and Chameli, were the only one’s attending the first evening of the Nevada City Temple Group. We entered the moment and the practices, and created a deep, juicy space together. From that first evening we knew we had a strong, true foundation in the connection between our hearts and our bodies, and in our mutual passion for creating spiritual awakening for women.
We then invited two brave sisters, Zoe and Barbara, and without much prior explanation shared the practices with them. They loved it . Then we invited a few more sisters at a time. Some immediately got it and some came only once and were never heard from again.
For about 9 months we were a small group of 2-6 women meeting every Monday. During the hot summer months the divine feminine flow in our Temple Group became a small trickle. When autumn came Chameli had one of her Wild Love & Sacred Silence weekend workshops for women and we sent out word in the community that we would close the group for new women for a while, in order to deepen the practices and connections in the Temple Group. Then the flood of women came.
Now, we have initiated more than forthy women. Instead of letting new women join one or two at the time as we did in the beginning, we have now decided to invite all the new women to come for an initiation day.
The Initiation Day has several essential purposes; one is to give the new women a real and deep experience of the practices so they can know if it is for them. Another purpose is to open up and saturate the new women so they more easily can be absorbed into the group without compromising our depth, vulnerability and realness. Over time, especially when you have a closed group, the energy, depth, intimacy and openness builds and becomes strong and we are fiercely protective of that. It is a rare and extraordinary gift to be in a group of women who are open channels for the divine, feminine essence. Of course, the ultimate would be to have an initiation week, but for us busy women it is hard to find the time, so for now we do one long, full initiation day, that may expand into a weekend.
Although there is no charge for the being part of the Temple, we have decided to charge money for the initiation day. It supports the new women to value their initiation, and us, the Temple Mamas, to receive some financial exchange for all the time and effort we are putting into the Temple.
Trust in the perfect order of the feminine chaos; there are many different ways to create and maintain a Temple Group, and each group will have it’s own flavor and path of development. We have found, through the many public events we do for women and in our Temple group, that it is wonderful if the number of experienced, initiated women exceed the number of new women, or at least have as many already initiated women as possible there. If you have only inexperienced women together there may be a tendency to stay more on the surface, get stuck in shyness or being nice.

Lakshmi - She who helps us manifest our wildest dreams!
Goddess Lakshmi, also known as Shri, is personified not only as the goddess of fortune and wealth but also as an embodiment of beauty, grace and charm. She is worshipped as a goddess who grants both worldly prosperity as well as liberation from the cycle of life and death. Physically Goddess Lakshmi is described as a fair lady, with four arms, seated on a lotus, dressed in fine garments and precious jewels. She has a benign countenance, is in her full youth and yet has a motherly appearance. She sits upon an open lotus flower. The myth tells us that Lakshmi arose out of the sea of milk, the primordial cosmic ocean, bearing a red lotus in her hand. Each member of the divine triad- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva (creator, preserver and destroyer respectively)- wanted to have her for himself. Shiva’s claim was refused for he had already claimed the Moon, Brahma had Saraswati, so Vishnu claimed her and she was born and reborn as his consort during all of his ten incarnations.
In different myths she appears as the wife of several different Gods. Lakshmi’s association with so many different male deities and with the notorious fleetingness of good fortune earned her a reputation for fickleness and inconstancy. In one text she is said to be so unsteady that even in a picture she moves. She is also known as ‘Chanchala’, or the restless one. Her notorious fickleness has convinced her devotees that she may desert them at the slightest pretext, so they have devised numerous ingenious strategies to retain Lakshmi, and thus prosperity in their establishments. One such sect is known to offer only the worst clothing to Lakshmi; for they say, ‘It is much easier for Goddess Lakshmi to abandon our houses if she is dressed beautifully, rather than in the fabric we offer to her as garment’! Another story says that the main reason for why Shri-Lakshmi leaves our homes and businesses is that she cannot stand chaos and she will return when peace and harmony is restored.
